Our Improv for Professionals Workshop teaches service providers, including attorneys, CPAs, private equity professionals, bankers, financial advisors, consultants, and more, how to apply improv tools to enhance both their professional and personal lives. From improving client development and creative problem solving to boosting teamwork, presentation skills, and business development outcomes, improv helps sharpen the core abilities that drive success.

In today’s fast-paced, tech-heavy environment, essential human skills like eye contact, active listening, and real-time collaboration often get overlooked. This workshop brings those skills back into focus, helping teams communicate more clearly, respond more strategically, and work together more effectively.

Improv works when participants embrace the idea that there is no single correct answer. While this does not apply to every detail in law, finance, accounting, private equity, or banking, it is a valuable mindset for tackling complex issues and collaborating across teams or departments. In improv, the focus is on building on ideas rather than shutting them down. That is the essence of the "Yes And" mindset.

Departments like Legal, Accounting, Tax, Finance, and even Investment or Credit Committees are often perceived as the groups that say no. By adopting a "Yes And" approach, professionals can shift that perception and encourage creativity, collaboration, and progress. Our Improv for Professional Wellness workshop uses is Applied Improv to focus on uniquely human qualities such as creativity, emotional intelligence, adaptability and collaboration. Improv is based in human interaction and authenticity; these skills remain crucial in helping us find equilibrium and move forward in ever changing professional and personal environments.
 
This workshop teaches professionals how to use improv as a tool to better their practice and lives. From creative problem solving, working in teams, and building trust to create balance. We teach foundational improv skills that incorporate basic human skills such as basic eye contact, active listening, supporting others ideas and team work, which can be lost arts in today’s corporate environments. Applying basic improv skills to not only your team but your personal development can improve the client experience and help grow or maintain your practice, achieve better outcomes and create a more well-balanced life.

This fun, interactive 90-minute* workshop introduces attorneys to applied improvisation: a practical approach to improving communication, collaboration, and business development skills. The exercises are play-based, creating a low-stress, low-risk environment where participants can learn new techniques or fine-tune existing skills with confidence. This approach not only encourages experimentation and creativity but also helps enhance skill retention, making the lessons more memorable and easier to apply in daily practice.

This introductory program was developed by an attorney and a legal marketing professional, each with more than 25 years of experience, and incorporates real-world attorney/client scenarios. A four-part follow-up series is available for practice groups seeking deeper training.
 
Applied Improv for Attorneys is a proven CLE program, previously approved for 1.5 hours of General CLE Credit in ten jurisdictions, including the Illinois State Bar, the Wisconsin Supreme Court Office of Lawyer Regulation, and eight additional states.
